125th Anniversary Celebrations We are currently finalising plans for our 125th Anniversary Celebrations within the club and what a weekend we promise to have for you on the August Bank Holiday weekend. It will include Parish Leagues which we hope to get every able bodied player in the club involved in and also an exhibition or "Grudge" match between the two sides of the parish Clashmore and Kinsalebeg which will be played ,in part, by juvenile, adult and over 40's players of the past which should prove to be an epic battle indeed. There will be a barbecue on the day for all patrons and many activities for the younger kids but we will have more details in the next week or so. Suffice to say you should keep your diary open for August Bank Holiday weekend 2010! Any over 40's players who would be interested in playing should contact Mattie Lynch on 087-6699718 and he will fill you in on what you need to do. This week's fixtures Our Minor Hurlers finally open their campaign this weekend as they play their first Division 3 game against Portlaw at Clashmore at 7.30pm on Saturday evening and then have only a small break to their second game against Brickey Rangers at Bushy Park on Monday evening at 7.30pm so best of luck to them as they try to emulate their Minor predecessors brilliant efforts last year. Our Junior Footballers have another outing on this Friday evening at 7.30pm down in An Rinn as they take on a strong Kilrossanty outfit so best of luck to them in that. Club Lotto Jackpot Win! Congratulations to Ciara Murphy, Clashmore who was the lucky winner of our €2,350 Club Lotto Jackpot last week when the lucky numbers were 2,8,9, & 26 so well done to you Ciara! Our consolation prize winners of €20 on the night were Mary Keogh, Clashmore; Donal O'Connor, Coolbagh; Ann Ormond, Clashmore; Jessie Power, Modeligo & Damien Power, c/o The Point Bar. Munster Hurling Final Best of luck to the Waterford Senior Hurlers in the Munster Final this weekend as they take on old rivals Cork at Semple Stadium on Sunday. We hope that all of our travelling supporters will have a safe journey to Thurles and hopefully we will be returning on Sunday evening in a triumphant frame of mind. Best of luck also to our County Minor Hurlers who play their Munster Semi-Final replay tonight in Walsh Park, the winners of which will be playing their own Munster Final before the Seniors on Sunday. Clubhouse Keys The locks on all of the old Clubhouse doors are being changed to new locks so we need anyone who currently has clubhouse keys to contact the Club Chairman so that the new keys can be handed out once acquired. On behalf of everyone in the adult club we want say a huge congratulations to our U14 footballers and their mentors Pat O'Sullivan, Aidan O'Rourke & Roger Ryan for their fantastic win over Roanmore by 2-4 to 0-3 in the Division 2 County Final on Saturday last. It is great to see our young players leading the way for the club especially in what is our 125th anniversary year. New Club Website Our present club website has been a great success over the last few years but the time had come to revamp it a bit so we have developed a completely new website with the same address www.ckgaa.com which retains all of the features of the old one but in a much more user-friendly way. It contains a super Image Gallery with action shots and team photos old and new and a comprehensive Club Archive which contains match reports going back to 1890, a period in time when Kinsalebeg reigned supreme in this County and should be of interest to young and old members of this club and beyond. The site will be under constant development so we want to hear any of your ideas as to what you might like to see appear on it. We can also be seen on our club Facebook page so please become a member of our group to keep up-to-date with all club events etc. Club Memorabilia With the completion of our new clubhouse fast approaching we are looking forward to fitting out our new clubroom walls with every aspect of our club's history such as photographs and medals etc. We are hoping to be able to display one of each of our County Championship medals won by this club in our new clubroom, in particular the County medals from 1886,1891,1903-1907, 1920, 1925 and 1962, so if anyone is willing to contribute to this effort can you please contact the P.R.O. on 086-0740461. |
